Main Ingredients
- 4 fillets Herring cleaned and filleted
- 1 cup Vinegar
- 1 cup Water
- 0.5 cup Sugar
- 1 tablespoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Peppercorns
- 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
- 2 pcs Bay leaves
- 1 pcs Onion sliced
1. Mix vinegar, water, sugar, salt, peppercorns, mustard seeds, and bay leaves in a pot. Bring to a boil, then let cool.
2. Layer herring fillets and onion slices in a glass jar.
3. Pour the cooled marinade over the herring and onions. Seal the jar and refrigerate for at least 24 hours before serving.
